How we built a platform to empower global movements
When protests erupted across the globe, journalists were scrambling through Twitter threads, activists had no central source of verified information, and researchers were stitching data together from dozens of disconnected sources. Nobody was building the infrastructure that movements deserved.
So we did. Momentum is a mission-driven platform—not a business—built to give everyone free, real-time access to what's actually happening on the ground worldwide. Transparency at scale requires infrastructure. We built it.
Today we track civil action events across 195 countries, updated continuously. We're funded entirely by the people who use us—no ads, no investors, no agenda.
No paywalls, no ads, no hidden algorithms. You see exactly how we work, where our data comes from, and how we make decisions.
Your data is yours. We use enterprise encryption, don't track users, and will never sell your information. Activist safety comes first.
We cross-reference every protest with multiple sources and use AI to detect misinformation. You can trust the data you see.
This platform exists because of contributions from activists, journalists, and volunteers worldwide. We're accountable to you.
We're not beholden to investors or advertisers. Our only incentive is making global movements more visible and safer.
Information access shouldn't cost money. Free tier forever. WCAG compliant. Available in 30+ languages.
We believe the best way to stay independent is through direct support from our users and mission-aligned donors.
We do not:
This means we answer to you, not investors.
Whether you're a journalist, researcher, activist, or just someone who believes in transparency—there's a way to help.
