Ridgefield - Banners Over I-5 & Visibility Brigade 4th of July Special Event
UpcomingDescription
Our July 4th "Banners Over I-5" returns as a shared event with the Visibility Brigade! Theme: "Elect a Clown, Get a Circus" In these challenging times, joy and community are our strongest defenses. We aim to expose bad actors and undermine the fear and lies spread by authoritarians by meeting them with humor and solidarity. Let's stand up for democracy while creating new memories together. Join Us on the Overpass: This is a safe, shared community space where flags, signs, costumes, and noisemakers are all welcome and encouraged. Signage: We have large banners designed to be visible from the freeway. Per the City's request, please do not attach anything directly to the "Birdie Barrier." Instead, we encourage using large individual letters held aloft by groups to spell out captions or individual hand held signs. Signs can also be turned to catch the attention of cars traveling along Pioneer Street. Need a Sign? Don't worry if you haven't had time to make one; extra signs will be available on-site. Dress Up for the Cause: Make this 4th of July unforgettable by dressing in a circus-themed costume! If you don't have time to assemble a look, we have costumes available for you. Click the link below to see what's available and check out by sending your request to: [email protected] Location & Parking Find parking at the Park and Ride just east of the overpass—it's a short walk up. Park where you feel comfortable, then use the crosswalks to reach the south side, where we will be gathering. This is a legal, peaceful rally on public property.
